Unlock PDF (Remove Password) Online

Enter the password once, get an unrestricted PDF - decrypted locally

Typing a password every time you open a bank statement or report gets old fast. If you know the password, this tool removes it permanently - both the open password and permission restrictions (no-print, no-copy) - leaving you a completely unrestricted file.

The decryption engine is qpdf (the industry-standard PDF encryption library) compiled to WebAssembly, running locally in your browser. Neither the file nor the password is ever sent anywhere - which matters most precisely for the documents that carry passwords.

Note: this tool is for files whose password you legitimately have. It does not and will not crack passwords.

How to use

  1. Click "Encrypt / Decrypt" and switch to the Decrypt tab
  2. Select the encrypted PDF
  3. Enter the correct password
  4. Download the unlocked, password-free PDF

FAQ

Can it unlock a PDF without the password?

No. The correct password is required - brute-forcing is neither provided nor supported.

Is my password uploaded or logged?

No. Decryption happens in-browser via qpdf WASM; the password exists only in your memory and vanishes when the page closes.

What about PDFs that open fine but block printing/copying?

Those owner-password restrictions are removed too - the output can be printed, copied, and edited freely.

Which encryption standards are supported?

Standard PDF RC4 and AES-128/256 - which covers virtually all encrypted PDFs.
